ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Mai Kobayashi
Mai Kobayashi is a Japanese artist. Her fascination with color began while working for a Japanese cosmetic company, followed by a position at a photo studio. While living in Tokyo, Mai was inspired by the neon-lit streets. She was also influenced by the Los Angels artists she met in her travels to the United States. As a woman, Mai wishes for all women to have the option to live beyond traditional gender roles.
After a series of recent changes to her life, her new creative focus combines fantasy elements with real world issues, expressing her imagination through her art. Her choice of color and aesthetic is influenced by the traditional art and drawing techniques of Japan.
