Artist Bio:
When the plane took off, she closed her eyes to reflect on her life in Africa and how she made the decision to leave everything she had ever known and loved behind to study in the United States. The heartache of being away from loved ones, excitement and uncertainty of what laid ahead of her seemed overwhelming, but she was positive that this was a wonderful adventure with opportunities for her to explore the world around her and grow to discover her most powerful tool through art. Growing up in a Ghana, West-Africa, her love for art was discouraged so she decided to pursue a career in healthcare. After her degree in the United States with her bachelor’s in Science, she encountered some life challenges which empowered her to pursue her passion for art. She opted to pursue her degree as a Mental Health Practitioner with the hope of using art to treat mental disorders in clients. Ruby experiences synesthesia and has had some challenges which she used the joy and passion of her artwork to overcome via art therapy. She finds art to be very calming and therapeutic in several ways. In her artworks, she selects colors that combine to create therapeutic effects for her and the viewer. Ruby is currently in graduate school training to become a Mental Health Practitioner who is very enthusiastic in using her artistic skills and research background to help treat and manage various mental health disorders through art therapy and other techniques for her clients. All her works tell unique stories. Ruby hopes her artwork brings you the healing, satisfaction or whatever connection your soul is yearning for in this world and the world beyond.
