Photo Etching (Intaglio) With Kozo Pigment Printed Chine Collé with Blind Emboss Relief
Beth Fein lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice includes, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, installation, video, and performance. She has exhibited nationally and internationally.
Fein’s work is in the collections of the Oakland Museum of California, The Special Collections of the Yale University Library and the San Francisco Art Commission. Fein has been awarded artist residencies in Cuba, Spain, Argentina, Basel, Switzerland, New York, Vermont and California. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including a solo exhibition at Transmission Gallery in Oakland, the Oakland Museum of California, International Print Center NY, Triton Museum of Art, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Headlands Center for the Arts, Banks Gallery in London, The San Francisco International Airport, Spain, Argentina and Kala Art Institute. Her work is currently available at Transmission Gallery and Kala Art Institute.
These prints are from a series of etchings I am currently creating about water reclamation. My observations of the environment I visit are blended with graphic scientific data that is used to treat and reclaim water.
These prints emphasize the importance and future of water in the overall context of global warming. Climate change is making water shortages occur more frequently. Clean reclaimed water that is put back into streams, aquifers and the sea will help mitigate the competition for water and preserve the natural environment needed by both humans and wildlife.
