For Immediate Release:

On Thursday, August 1st NYA Center will present the second iteration of its seasonal, alternative art fair. The first rendition of NYAFAIR opened to much acclaim during FRIEZE Week NY in early May 2019. The August presentation of the fair will feature a panoply of works in media ranging from sculpture to painting to works on paper. The fair will run from August 1st to August 4th. Artists, curators, and dealers will showcase a select number of works in the fair booths within NYA Center—a 9,000-square-foot, 3-level venue with 6 premiere galleries, 11 exhibitor booths, and 2,000 square feet of fine art storage.

The opening of the fair will coincide with four other exhibitions and related receptions that are set to open on the first Thursday of August. Visitors to the fair will be able to take advantage of seeing Gallery 104’s Evoke exhibition and NYA Gallery’s Graceful group show. Curated by Lucy McCarron, Evoke will speak to art’s capacity—in all forms—to engage the senses and conjure up strong feelings, emotions, thoughts, and stimulus overall. The artists that have been brought together for NYA Gallery’s August group show elaborate on the central theme by providing myriad and masterful examples of how artists can manipulate the formal elements of art to demonstrate gracefulness in terms of line, color, and form. What’s more, a group exhibition will be on display in the Townley Gallery space at street level, and Miriam Inness will have a solo exhibition in the lower level. Inness’s NY Rambling show—the culmination of years of planning and sketching—will feature a number of large-scale charcoal drawings of New York neighborhoods and their respective architectural styles.

With this robust schedule of cultural programming slated for the first week of August, NYA Center will be an important meeting point for creative practitioners, buyers, critics, and art admirers. Following the close of these receptions on August 1st, attendees are invited to an after-party at the nearby Roxy Hotel located between Walker and White Streets on 6th Avenue, which is part of the Center’s recurring 1st Thursdays Art Walk campaign. Guests may visit the fair during its run August 1st (6-9pm) and August 2nd  - 4th  (12-6pm). For more information, go to NewYorkArt.com, call (917) 472-9015, or email info@newyorkart.com.
