Personal Statement:

Moshe Ripner (Israel,1990). I grew up and was educated in an Orthodox Jewish family. After finishing my studies at the yeshiva, I began to be exposed to the art world. And I was fascinated. I got my first influence from Egon Schiele. After that I discovered other masters who had a great influence on me, Marlene Dumas, Louis Bourgeois, and athers. The gap created between the worlds, Art and tradition, made me want to explore the boundaries between the two.

My  works deal with the search for Jewish identity, within the contemporary art world.

The materials I use express my feelings about the present painting. Whether it's a thick color for passion like the oil color, or acrylic, or watery color for tenderness or spirituality.

My main motivation for painting is desire, I use melancholy and self-humor as a way to express myself in painting.
