My work revolves around the theme of genre art. Since I came to New York from Uzbekistan in 2009, I was always aware of what was happening around me. New York was a new place for me, a place of which that includes skyscrapers, beautiful cities, and lots of people. Since then, I have always loved painting my surroundings, specifically in New York. As a 19 year old artist, painting everyday scenes is a passion that always evolves. I have realized that as I continued to capture aspects of city life, I have been painting a portrait of New York City itself. A place where there’s a lot of diverse people connecting with each other and their environment. New York City is a totally artificial environment, even our parks are designed. As such, they reflect about humanity, our society’s priorities, our tastes, and more. As my work developed, the background has become an essential part of my art. I paint scenes of everyday life, but my choices still shape the content of my work. My subjects are not what some would call beautiful in a conventional sense. They are about the poetry of the ordinary.
