Pastels on Paper
Elizabeth has always seen herself as a versatile artist working in oils, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media with a foundation in landscape and cloudscape paintings. Over time, the artist was drawn to more expressive creations-her art has transitioned into atmospheric explorations, with a taste of abstraction and impressionistic implications.
She has recently been working on a series reflective of global warming and its effects on nature, with a special focus on the fires in California; a subject that touches her deeply. Her captivating works are rich in color, mood, and atmosphere- drawing the viewer’s eye into the artist’s journey.
The artist works in translucent layers of color and light, expressing the world around her. Life filters through the rays of light that dance around the panel in a modernistic sojourn. She finishes her oil paintings with a layer of Galkyd, which intensifies the rich pigment, bringing to life the world that she has created…the realm she wants want’s the viewer to experience. It’s all about the journey, the connection between the artist’s creation and the ride it takes the viewer on.
