Hoboken, NJ based artist, Chesleigh Meade, has been creating art for as long as she can remember. Growing up with artists in her family it seemed only natural for her to also pursue a career in the arts. Though she started out with the more traditional route of drawing and painting, she soon realized that she wanted to expand her techniques. Slowly she began making paper collages and then moved on again, wanting to mix it up even more. Lately most of her work has been focusing more on mixed media, bordering on assemblage. When creating she loves to use non traditional materials and to transform them into something else. One of her biggest influences has been her journey through motherhood. Becoming a mother at a young age and navigating not only the creative side of herself but also just everyday life and the different prejudices, struggles, and rewards that it offers has played a huge part in her growth as an artist. Chesleigh is not only exploring and experiencing motherhood in this modern time but also expressing in modern art.
