Born 1981, he graduated in Architecture in 2005 from the Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto, Portugal, and the Accademia di Architettura della Universitá della Svizzera Italiana. Later, in 2014, received a Master Science degree in Sustainable Urban Development from the University of Oxford, with the dissertation ‘Bordering the Favela : The relationship between ‘urban form’ and the resident’s perceptions of safety’.
Founding partner of Morim’ Santos Silva, Arquitectos in 2009, with Gisela Correia Morim, have been investigating the border between art and architecture, applying the intangibility of art on architecture built environment.
He is also involved on the preservation of traditional architecture and construction techniques in Pico Island (Azores archipelago), engaging local communities to value their culture heritage through art, through the built environment and its role on the island’s sustainability and local identity, of which the present work is an example.
