François Glineur lives and works in Amiens / France, where he devotes himself entirely to painting and drawing, in his paint workshop now in an old dairy factory. He started painting after he had seen an abstract painting at the Picardy Museum. It has triggered in him the strong need to switch from a scientific career to a more creative one: painting.
François Glineur revisits all masterpieces of art history. Insatiable curious to discover new path, he likes to astonish. He always succeed to create in his painting a kind of tension, which results in either a conflict between the phantasm and the reality, fear and harmony, or by a mixing of the innumerable references from art history, street art, comics and classical paintings. His characters refer to narrative figuration (Combas, Di Rosa, Guyomard) and to comics (Hergé, Moebius, Edikafrom).
He uses bold, frolicsome brushstrokes, and prolix colors to weave a captivating narrative painting, where the imaginary and the truth nourish each other to reveal a hidden surprise that never comes up at the first look.
His paintings are windows and gateways open on wonderful and magic places, sometimes cruel but al- ways enchanted. Escape in an infinitely expandable space that knows neither time nor boundary because it takes its roots into the marvelous. Passion, cunning, love that survives death, betrayal, heroism, everything that dispels, delights and nourishes are there, just let yourself be carried away.
