Crystel Pereira is a visual artist specialized in oil painting. Formerly a visual arts student at UQAM university, she is currently studying painting and drawing at Concordia University in Montreal. She has been painting since 2018, and began exhibiting her paintings in various exhibitions. Notably, she participated in the group exhibition organized by Artsida at the MX Gallery and the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art in 2019.
Her work explores our relationship to our environment, as well as the effect of perception and memory on the visual world around us. She is interested in the ability of an image to arouse complex emotions with subjects that leave room for interpretation. Most of her paintings are part of her exploration of nostalgia and memories through blurred and evocative landscapes. Always in exploration and research, she is interested in different painting techniques that create texture effects to accentuate what she seeks to communicate with each painting.
