Richard D. Sweatt has resided in California since 1971 having come from New Jersey, where he was born and raised until he was seven years old. After attending a few years of grade school in California, he completed Jr. High School in St. Louis. He then attended High School in Chicago and moved back to California for Cerritos Jr. College where he attended the University CSULB.
He started his art education at an early age and was influenced by his mother. His art teachers in school and private art school were quick to see his talent. After art classes, animation courses and art history at CSULB, he began work in the Advertising Field.
His early advertising expertise has included production, lineart, colorcutting, layout, illustration and marker comps. Later he became an Account Executive and Color Department Head. As a Graphic Designer, he is highly creative and multi-talented. He has experience in the development of many facets of advertising materials. Richard has managed and organized graphic departments at dozens of advertising agencies. Being inventive and quick thinking has proven to be successful in the completions of work for companies in diverse industries such as; advertising, entertainment, printing and manufacturing.
His 40 year advertising career has included full time positions as Art Director, Senior Art Director and Freelance Graphic Designer. The last fifteen years he has had his own business, Mouse Images. His business includes both traditional artwork and computer art. Since starting his own business, he has had a personal and professional impact in the graphics field.
In the past he has created and designed for companies like; CBS, Hughes Aircraft, and 100 different advertising agencies, manufacturers and retailers. He has been honored in the advertising field with over forty awards from the Inland Empire ADDY’S.
The last few years he has had a renewed interest in painting both oil and acrylic utilizing various subjects. Recently he has been motivated to add abstracts to his repertoire. He is currently a member of OCFA Association and has recently participated in the well-known Hillcrest Art Festival.
