The continuing exploration of cultural contradictions, their talismen and the irony they convey remains at the core of Bowden’s work. His linear narratives are layered with literary signposts, historic imagery, occasional patterns, engaging color, and his elegant sense of design and composition. He has honed his eye and hand through design and drama, the carousel of fashion, and the barometer of style. An emblematic object becomes a visual reference, bringing to the forefront not only the mystery of human aesthetic consensus, but also the historic period from which it emerges in its full panoply of disappointment and achievement. His art works are in numerous commercial, and private collections.
